Police nab 7 big-time drug traffickers, seize P3.5M shabu

THREE suspected big-time drug traffickers, including a barangay tanod were arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit  seized from them some P3.5 million worth of shabu early morning yesterday in Sampaloc, Manila.

NCRPO chief Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar identified the suspects as Porferio Pementera, Orlando Naguinlin and Joseph de la Cruz, a local barangay official. They were arrested in a buy-bust at apartment No. 1817-C in Algostro Building, Simoun Street in Barangay 484, Sampaloc, Manila, at around 12:45 a.m.

Recovered from the suspects were 82 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 516 grams of shabu with a market value of P3.508 million, one caliber .22 revolver and a hand-held radio.

The NCRPO chief said the suspects are believed to be members of the Pementera Criminal Gang involved in illegal drug trafficking activities in Manila and Quezon City. “They are believed to be connected to some local narco-politicians including a barangay kagawad and some ninja cops who have been targeted by my men,” Eleazar said, referring to barangay councilman Ronnie Labongray of Bgy. 561 in Sampaloc who was killed in an NCRPO anti-narcotics operation last March 28 and a group of policemen who have been tagged as ‘high-value’ drug targets due to their involvement in ‘hulidap/bangketa’ operations and recycling of confiscated shabu in the metropolis.

Eleazar said non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs will be filed against the three suspects who are now being held at the NCPRO-RDEU detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City.
