THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has appealed to the public to donate blood as supply in the country is in danger of running out.
“We need your help. Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in our country today, there are persons in hospitals now who are badly in need of blood transfusions like cancer patients, accident victims, people with blood disorders, mothers who are giving birth, and so many others, and with a limited supply of blood nationwide, we are in danger of running out,” PRC Chairman Richard Gordon said in a statement.
With this the PRC is appealing to donate blood for patients in dire need of blood transfusion
Because there is no mass transportation during the quarantine, Gordon said those who want to donate blood may contact the PRC through text at 0917 437 9377 (for Metro Manila) so that the organization can fetch them at their houses.
The PRC said the donors will then be taken to the PRC Headquarters in Mandaluyong City where their blood will be extracted.
“For those in the provinces, please contact the nearest Red Cross Chapter to coordinate,” he said.
After the blood extraction, the donors will be returned by PRC to their respective houses.
“Your spirit of volunteerism and resilience will help out many in need,” the PRC chairman stressed.
