Pusher slain, cop hurt in Valenzuela shootout

A KNOWN drug pusher was killed while an undercover cop was wounded following a shootout between police and the suspect in a buy bust operation Tuesday evening in Valenzuela City.

Federico Velasco alias ‘Manok’, resident of MacArthur Highway, Bgy. Dalandanan succumbed to bullet wounds in the body while being rushed to Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital while the cop who posed as poseur-buyer was treated at the same hospital from gunshot wound in the left thigh.

Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Carlito Gaces said earlier at around 7:15 p.m., joint elements of Station Intelligence Branch (SIB) and Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted the operation against the allegedly notorious suspect.

After receiving a plastic sachet of shabu in exchange for P200 marked money, the police poseur-buyer gave the pre-arranged signal prompting operatives to rush to the area and arrest the suspect.

The suspect, upon sensing he was dealing with an undercover cop drew his gun and shot the poseur-buyer twice, hitting the latter in the left thigh.

P/Maj. Jessie Misal and Capt. Segundino Bulan, Jr. who led the operation retaliated, hitting the suspect in the body.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a caliber .357 revolver with four live bullets and two empty shells in its chamber from the slain suspect, along with the marked money and a pouch bag containing 10 pieces of heat sealed plastic sachet of shabu and P300 cash.
