THE opening of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)’s Measles Care Unit at San Lazaro Hospital translates to augmentation of assistance for families and individuals amid the overflow of patients due to the measles outbreak.
PRC’s Measles Care Unit is comparable to an outdoor hospital setup -- it is an air-conditioned medical tent with double deck beds, chairs, a mini-emergency room, and admission area.
The tents are also equipped with welfare desks to identify the psychosocial needs of families. It also has access to portalets.
Chairman Richard Gordon said the installation of the extension ward addresses the congestion of patients. This will also provide comfort to patients, especially those two or three individuals who share one bed.
PRC thanks Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and San Lazaro Hospital Head Dr. Edmundo Lopez for partnering with PRC.
