A ROBBERY-holdup suspect who earlier robbed two pharmacists of their belongings was killed in a shootout with police yesterday before dawn in Caloocan City.
The still unidentified suspect, who was positively identified by the victims as the one who robbed them, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body.
Caloocan police chief Col. Noel Flores said Ramir Acuyong, 26, assistant pharmacist, of No. 48 Emilio Jacinto St. Concepcion, Malabon City, and Alyssa Pauline Apalisok, 21, pharmacist of No. 111 V. Sevilla St., 6th Avenue, in Bgy. 49, Caloocan City, were walking on 6th Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. when the suspect appeared and at gunpoint declared a holdup.
After the robbery, the victims sought the assistance of Maj. Merben Bryan Lago of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2 who immediately conducted a follow-up operation, along with elements of Station Special Operations Unit led by Capt. John David Chua on 6th Avenue.
Police spotted the suspect at around 2:10 a.m. on 6th Avenue in Bgy. 55 and ordered him to surrender but instead he drew his handgun and fired towards the approaching lawmen. A brief shootout ensued killing the suspect instantly. A caliber super .38 pistol and a pouched bag were recovered from the suspect.
