A DRUNK 19-year-old rider landed in jail after he insulted the police officers who accosted him for not wearing a helmet shortly after midnight yesterday in Makati City.
Makati police chief Col. Rogelio Simon said Abraham Gabriel Canada, student and resident of No. 2704 A. Cailles St. Bgy. Bangkal, Makati, will be charged for resisting arrest, disobedience to person in authority, driving under the influence of liquor and violation of R.A 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
Cpl. Juluis Baydon and Pat. Samuel Marilao of Special Reaction Unit (SRU) were patrolling on Cailles Street at around 12:15 a.m. when they spotted the suspect while driving recklessly without a helmet.
The police officers chased the suspect and when cornered, they asked for his driver’s license but the latter insulted the lawmen, prompting them to place him under arrest.
The suspect was brought to the nearest hospital where he tested positive for alcohol before he was brought to the Makati Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4 for proper filing of charges.
