NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Major General Debold M. Sinas yesterday ordered the disarming and administrative relief of a member of the Quezon City Police District Special Operations Unit who tested positive for shabu during a surprise drug test last June 6.
Sinas also ordered the transfer of Patrolman Casey San Carlos Austria from the QCPD-DSOU to the NCRPO Regional Personnel Holding and Administrative Unit in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City while undergoing summary hearing procedures, the Journal Group learned.
The official said that from January 1 to date, there were already 10 members of the NCPRO who have tested positive for substance abuse and are to be dismissed from the police service in line with the strict ‘no to drugs’ policy of Philippine National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa.
In his directive to QCPD director, Brigadier Gen. Ronnie S. Montejo, the NCRPO chief ordered that Pat. Austria be stripped of his issued firearm and other government properties including his badge. Austria became the 10th and latest NCRPO member who has been found to be using illegal drugs.
According to Maj. Gen. Sinas, the QCPD operative was the lone policeman out of the 312 QCPD personnel who tested positive for methamphetamine abuse during a surprise drug test last June 6.
