NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Major General Debold M. Sinas yesterday awarded San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and other officers and men who were involved in the peaceful resolution of last week’s hostage drama in Greenhills.
Apart from the San Juan City mayor, also given plaques of recognition by the NCRPO chief were the San Juan City Police Station’s Special Weapons and Tactics team, the Joint Task Force-NCR of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and several Greenhills security guards and utility workers.
Sinas cited the active participation and extra courage displayed by the awardees which resulted in the safe release of the over 50 hostages and the arrest of armed suspect Alchie Paray, a disgruntled security guard after hours of negotiation.
Mayor Zamora expressed his gratitude to Sinas for considering him as ‘negotiator’ when he guaranteed the safety of the hostage-taker.
“Hinayaan natin syang kumalma, we psychologically disarmed him,” the official said.
Zamora stressed that what should be noted about the hostage incident was that no one was killed and all hostages were rescued unharmed.
