Skulls, skeletons dug up in front of Malate Church

CONSTRUCTION workers dug up skulls and skeletons in front of the Malate Church on M.H. Del Pilar St., Malate, Manila.

P/Staff Master Sergeant Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District-homicide section said at at around 1:30 p.m. the other day, the Arms Phil Construction company, a subcontractor of the Metro Manila Development Auhtority (MMDA), was digging in the area for the installation of a traffic light post when they discovered the human bones and skulls. 

Construction workers Seigfred Ryan Calang, 38 and Romy Miguel Jr., 25, were surprised to find the said bones and immediately reported the matter to the police.

Police said that on investigation, the said area used to be a burial site during the Spanish era.
