A seven-year-old boy died when a fire of still undetermined origin destroyed their house yesterday morning in Quezon City.
QC District Fire marshal Senior Supt. Jaime Ramirez identified the victim as Jaren Bentor Repangcol, 7, of No. 173 Litex Road near IBP Road in Bgy. Commonwealth. His younger brother Prince Quiel, 6, was able to escape the fire.
The victim’s parents Renato Repangcol, 42, and wife Jacqueline, 32, told authorities they left their children sleeping while they went to a nearby dumpsite to gather scrap materials when the fire struck at around 3:55 a.m. They rushed back home and only found Prince crying.
Jaren’s body was later retrieved in the rubble of their burned house.
