AN armed suspect who had just robbed a spa in Quezon City was killed in an encounter with the police on Tuesday night.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the slain suspect as Alvin Gutan, 32, of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City.
A report gathered from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the QCPD showed that at about 2 a.m., the suspect entered Florences Spa at No. 314 Roosevelt Avenue corner M.H del Pilar St., Bgy. San Antonio and requested for a massage.
However, after the massage service, Gutan pulled out a hand gun and declared holdup. He reportedly divested the cash and valuables of four spa personnel. The suspect immediately fled after the incident.
The victims then reported the incident to Bgy. San Antonio which relayed the robbery to Masambong Police Station.
A follow-up operation was conducted wherein the suspect was spotted at about 11 p.m., in front of house No. 21 Florencia West Riverside St. corner Brgy. Del Monte, SFDM.
Police were about to accost the suspect, when he pulled out his gun and fired at them resulting in a brief shootout and death of the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect were one caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition, several fired cartridge cases, four sachets of shabu, lighter and a motorcycle without plate number.
