Taguig drug suspect falls

A 51-YEAR-OLD man wanted for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Office of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group shortly before noon yesterday, CIDG-NCR chief, Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay said.

Avel Cruz was arrested in his residence at no. 16 Labao Street in Purok 1, Barangay Napindan, Taguig City by officers led by Captain Ronald Cabello with the help of a team from the NCR Police Office Regional Intelligence Division and the Taguig City Police Station, said the CIDG-NCR chief.

Ibay said the suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of RA 9165 issued by Judge Antonio Olivete of the Taguig City RTC  Branch 267 last June 17 with a P40,000 bail recommended.

He described the suspect as the purported leader of criminal gang involved in robbery-holdup and illegal drug trafficking in Taguig City, Pasig City and some parts of Taytay, Rizal and its nearby municipalities.
