DUE to lack of consultation and massive information drive, the House Committee on Metro Manila development and the Quezon City government yesterday sought to defer for one week the closure of the Tandang Sora flyover and intersection on Commonwealth Avenue.
The deferment was agreed during the public hearing initiated by the panel chaired by Quezon City Rep. Winston “Winnie” Castelo and the Quezon City Council led by Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Castelo lamented that local government units (LGUs) and affected residents were left blinded on the closure and demolition of the flyover to give way to the construction of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) System Line.
The MRT management yesterday said the closure flyover be closed on March 2 at 11 p.m., a week later from the original February 23 schedule aimed to give way to the construction of Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 7.
