POLICE arrested two drug peddlers including a barangay watchman and confiscated from them shabu and firearm in a drug sting before dawn Sunday in Navotas City.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas identified the arrested barangay watchman as Jeffrey Batallones, 29, of Phase II Area I Bgy. NBBS, Dagat-dagatan and John Vincent Elisan, 36, of Blk 7 Lot 47 who were both identified as drug pushers in the area.

Col. Balasabas said the arrest of the suspects was the result of a surveillance operation conducted by elements of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P. Lt. Genere Sanchez after receiving numerous complaints from concerned citizens about their illegal activities.

The suspects were arrested at around 4 a.m. along Phase 1B in Bgy. NBBS after they handed a plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P300 marked money  When frisked, the two yielded 3.0 grams of shabu with standard drug price worth P20,400, 1.0 gram of dried marijuana leaves, the marked money and a caliber .9mm pistol with magazine loaded with seven live ammunition.

The two were presented for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 of R.A 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 200 and violation of R.A. RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
