A teacher was hit by stray bullets after a group of intoxicated men indiscriminately fired shots with another man who earlier figured in an altercation in Pasig City on All Souls’ Day.
Reports reaching Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba said victim Flora Ching, 62, of 1625 Jupiter St., Sikat Araw, Nagpa-yong, Bgy. Pinagbuhatan, is now undergoing treatment at Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH) for gunshot wounds in the head.
Senior Supt. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig police chief, said the suspects, identified as Jerome Martinez, 24, Jammel Tapia, 19, and Rannie Calumpad, 24, all residents of Dela Paz Ville, Nagpayong Bgy. Pinagbuhatan, were arrested during follow-up operation.
Initial investigation showed that the incident took place along Jupiter St., Sikat Araw, Nagpayong, at around 12:10 a.m. yesterday.
Prior to the incident, the group of Martinez and the group of a certain John Paul Avancenia, 20, were having separate drinking sessions in their neighborhood.
Gapas said Martinez and a certain De Vera went to a nearby store to buy bottles of liquor.
However, Martinez and De Vera figured in an altercation but they were pacified by some residents, and both decided to leave.
Few minutes later, Martinez went back to the place armed with a caliber .38 and fired at De Vera.
The victim, who was inside her house, checked through her window but she suddenly felt pain in the head, with blood oozing.
Residents rushed her to the hospital while police conducted a follow-up operation which resulted in the arrest of the three suspects.
