Trader gunned down

TWO men and a woman shot and killed a 51-year-old businessman in an apparent robbery in Malabon city this weekend, the police reported yesterday.

Francisco Lobenia, meat dealer of 34B Saint Prince, Bgy. Malinta, Valenzuela city, was rushed to Ospital ng Malabon where he was pronounced dead-on-arrival by attending physician due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Malabon police homicide investigator P/CMSgt. Joselito Bagting said the victim, who came from the Malabon Public Market, was driving a Hyundai van with his relatives on board at around 12 noon Saturday on their way home when the suspects blocked their path along Yanga Street, Bgy. Maysilo.

Relatives of the victim told police that the suspects shot Lobenia repeatedly and before they fled towards unknown direction of board a motorcycle, they took the victim’s bag containing an undetermined amount of money.

Sgt. Bagting said elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered nine empty shells for unknown caliber of firearm from the crime scene which will be submitted to PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
