A tricycle driver was nabbed for possession of illegal drugs at a Commission on Elections checkpoint set up by the Manila Police District (MPD) in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday.
Now facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is suspect Paulino Lim, who was found in possession of two sachets of shabu.
The Sta. Ana Police Station 6 headed by P/Supt. Albert Barot said that Lim was arrested at the corner of New Panaderos and Lamayan Streets in Sta. Ana at around 1 a.m. or just an hour after the Comelec checkpoint was set up by the MPD in connection with the start of the election period and the gun ban for the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections (NLE).
Lim was passing by when police asked for his license. It was when he took out his wallet when police said they found the shabu sachets.
The suspect claimed the drugs were not his and might have just been included in the money paid to him by his last passenger.
