A TRICYCLE driver was critically injured when he was struck in the head by a steel pipe twice by a man who allegedly harbored an old grudge against him Sunday afternoon in Caloocan city.
Francis Emmanuel Sagun, 26, of No. 2 Binayuyo St. Bgy. 179 Amparo Subdivision was rushed to East Avenue Medical Hospital where he was placed under observation after being treated from severe head injuries while the suspect, identified as Bonnie Quiatchon, 33 of Block 57, Lot 16, Anahaw Street, Barangay 179, was arrested by barangay watchmen.
Caloocan police deputy chief for administration Lt. Col. Ilustre Mendoza said the victim was on board his driven tricycle together with his 16-year-old brother Christian Angelo when the suspect, holding a steel pipe, blocked their path at around 4 p.m. along Anahaw Street. Amparo Subdivision.
Without a word, the suspect suddenly hit Sagun in the head with a steel pipe causing him to fall on the ground with blood oozing from his head
Not contented, the suspect delivered another blow on Sagun’s head but before he can whip again the victim, the latter’s younger brother intervened, prompting Quiatchon to escape upon sensing the approaching barangay watchmen who were sought by concerned residents in the area.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Dario Menor said the suspect was presented for inquest proceedings on charges for frustrated murder before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
