Undesirable alien tag asked for Chinese in ‘taho’ incident

February 10, 2019

NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office chief Guillermo Eleazar said he will ask  the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to declare as an “undesirable alien” the Chinese national who threw “taho” (soy milk pudding) at a uniformed policeman at the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station in Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City.

Eleazar said Jiale Zhang, 23, a student taking fashion design at the Sofa Design Institute, should be declared as an “undesirable alien” and should be deported immediately.

“After filing of case against Zhang, we will recommend for her to be considered as an “undesirable alien’ and it will be the basis of the Bureau of Immigration to process her deportation. Hindi lang naman sa kanya isinasagawa ito kundi sa lahat. Kahit sino sa atin na nandito, pag-ganyan ang gagawin mayroong corresponding action na dapat  gawin ang ating mga pulis,” Eleazar said. “Tayo sa Pilipinas, we have policies here, when we are in other countries, we also follow their existing rules and law. Kaya kung nasa local at foreign country tayo sundin natin ang batas na pinapatupad naman ng kapulisan. Respetuhin natin ang ating kapulisan,’ he added.

Zhang on Saturday was reportedly entering the MRT station in Boni Avenue when PO1 William Cristobal told her not to bring the soy pudding inside. Cristobal explained to the suspect that “taho” is among the several items prohibited in the LRT and MRT premises in line with  the stepped-up measures that were enforced as a result of the recent bombing in Jolo, Sulu.

Zhang apparently resented the prohibition and threw the pudding at Cristobal.

Eleazar said the PNP is merely implementing guidelines issued by the Department of Transportation (DoTr), the MRT and the LRT.

Eleazar expressed his full support for Cristobal  and called on the public to always respect the men in uniform who are merely doing their job to ensure their safety.

“We give high respect to our PNP uniform, we wear it with dignity and values of integrity, professionalism and service above self for these we do to serve God, country and people. We can’t just imagine kung paano at kung gaano kawalang galang. Siyempre kahihiyan ito sa ating uniporme,” the NCRPO chief said in a press statement.
