US issues level 3 travel alert for PH

THE United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for the Philippines due to COVID-19.

The updated Travel Advisory was issued on August 7, amid the continuous spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.

Under Alert Level 3,  US citizens were urged to reconsider travel to the Philippines due to COVID-19.

Alert Level 3 urged Americans to "avoid all non-essential travel to this destination. The outbreak is of high risk to travelers and no precautions are available to protect against the identified increased risk."

The Travel Advisory also told Americans to exercise increased caution in the Philippines due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, a measles outbreak, and kidnapping.

"Some areas have increased risk," it said.

The Philippines reverted back to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine last week due to the continuous increase in COVID-19 positive cases that has reached 129,913 on Sunday, the highest in Southeast Asia.
