Valenzuela to distribute milk, snacks to daycare pupils

April 08, 2020

THE Valenzuela City Government will start distribution of nutritious drinks and powdered milk, filled with snacks to daycare pupils to make them healthy, well-nourished and happy at the comfort of their homes.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian said parents of kids enrolled at public daycare centers started to receive the Daycare NutriPacks yesterday at the designated redemption and daycare centers across the city.

Prior to the redemption of the NutriPacks, vouchers were distributed by daycare teachers to parents detailing when and where they can redeem the special treats. Distribution of the NutriPack vouchers is still ongoing, and those who have not received their vouchers yet can contact the daycare teachers of their children.

The NutriPacks are being distributed to 12,000 daycare pupils enrolled at all public daycare centers in Valenzuela.

Only one parent or guardian is authorized to get the NutriPack at the redemption area. Parents and guardians are not allowed to bring their children and they shall also observe social distancing at the designated venues.

An Alagang Valenzuelano Daycare NutriPack contains snacks such as fruit jellies, a variety of biscuits cupcakes or sponge cakes, one container of wafer sticks, six  bottles of probiotics drinks and 1.7kg powdered milk drink.

“Nauunawaan namin na nabibiktima rin ang mga kabataan sa nangyayari sa ating paligid ngayon at importante na napapangalagaan natin ang kanilang nutrisyon at kanilang pangangailangan… Sana sa ganitong programa, makatulong tayo sa pamilyang Valenzuelano at kabataang Valenzuelano. Mayor Rex Gatchalian stated.

The project, a part of the Alagang Valenzuelano initiative during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period, follows the Valenzuela City Food Voucher, Valenzuela City Market on Wheels, and Valenzuela City Care Bag programs which all helped Valenzuelanos get by with their everyday needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
