IN a bid to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID) 19 pandemic, the Valenzuela City Government and The Medical City (TMC) forged a partnership for mass testing of persons under investigation (PUI) and persons under monitoring (PUM) for free.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian said that under the memorandum of agreement (MOA), the city   government would take care of acquiring PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing kits that the TMC will process the results.

The mayor said that in the meantine, they would have to wait probably in the next few days as the TMC is awaiting a certification from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) for its Stage 5 accreditation.

“My special request to my fellow Valenzuelanos, let’s all keep praying that in the soonest time it (TMC) will have its Stage 5 accreditation from the RITM of the Department of Health. Malapit na. Ang kapalaran natin ay nasa accreditation nila.” Mayor Rex said.

Once certified by RITM, the mayor said the TMC can start processing and testing samples at full scale.

“We understand that government hospitals are already loaded with COVID-19 patients, that is why we looked for a private hospital and we are gratified by the quick response of TMC to be our partner in this battle against this deadly virus,” he added.

The city chief executive has expressed his gratitude “to the men and women of TMC. They are already thinking of ways to help beyond the confines of their walls. Through this model, they want to reach our barangays.” Mayor Rex said.
