A 38-YEAR-OLD vendor was critically wounded after he was treacherously stabbed by another vendor over an old grudge yesterday morning in Caloocan City.

Ronald Armenio of Phase 9 Package 2, Staging Area, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang was rushed to Caloocan City Medical Center where he underwent surgical operation for a lone stab wound in the back while the suspect, identified as John Bequilla, 29, of Phase 9 Package 6 Block 17 Lot 9, Bgy. 176 was later arrested by joint elements of  watchmen of Bgy. 176 and Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 in a follow-up operation.

Investigation showed that while Armenio was selling bamboo sticks along Phase 9, Package 5 in Bagong Silang at around 6:45 a.m., the suspect, armed with a bladed weapon, appeared from behind and stabbed the victim once in the back.

Though wounded, the victim managed to run while screaming for help which prompted the suspect to flee after sensing the presence of barangay officials who immediately rushed the wounded vendor to the hospital.

Police said the arrested suspect was presented for inquest proceedings at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office on charges of frustrated murder.
