THE Department of Public Works and Highways has announced motorists will be able to use the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Plaza Dilao ramp starting this month.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar announced during Friday’s inspection that the project is aimed for completion this July.
“Construction of Skyway Stage 3 is in full blast. We are working 24/7 to deliver the infrastructure this July,” he said.
During the inspection, Villar noted that the project, which will effectively connect NLEX and SLEX, will be “substantially completed” within the year.
Section 1 from Buendia Avenue in Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila is now 83 percent completed, while Section 3 from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak is 81 percent completed,” he said.
The DPWH chief said other sections are also being fast-tracked to ensure the Skyway’s mainline from Buendia to Balintawak meets the target completion date by the first quarter of 2020.
The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 is an 18.68-kilometer elevated expressway stretching over Metro Manila from Buendia, Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City.
The project, which will have eight access ramps/interchanges strategically located at Buendia Avenue, (South Super Highway, Makati City), Pres. Quirino Avenue (Malate, Manila), Plaza Dilao (Paco, Manila), Nagtahan/Aurora Boulevard (Manila), E. Rodriguez Avenue (Quezon City), Quezon Avenue (Quezon City), Sgt. Rivera St. (Quezon City) and NLEX, will reduce travel time from Buendia, Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City from the current two hours to just 15 to 20 minutes.
