THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) yesterday said a Filipino in France died of coronavirus-19 (COVID-19).
This developed as the DFA said reports from the different posts showed 153 Filipinos in 23 countries have tested positive for COVID-19, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Eduardo Menez said.
Of this figure, 66 are undergoing treatment and 86 have been discharged from health facilities.
The Asia Pacific Region (Japan, Hongkong, Macau, Singapore, Burei Darussalam, Malaysia, South Korea and India) accounts for 106 confirmed cases where 23 are still undergoing treatment, and 83 have recovered and sent home.
Middle East (Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Lebanon) has 17 confirmed cases, 16 under treatment and one recovery.
The United States has 16 cases, 13 of which came from MV Grand Princess and all of them are still undergoing treatment.
Europe, (France, Greece, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom) has 14 confirmed cases, 11 are undergoing treatment, two recovery and one death in France.
No further details however was given because "the family had initially asked for privacy," the DFA said.
