2 more House members virus positive

TWO more members of the House of Representatives tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Office of the House Secretary General confirmed that Manila Teacher party-list Rep. Virgilio Lopez and Bulacan Rep. Henry Villarica were also inflicted with COVID-19.

According to House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales,  the initial screenings of Lopez showed that he is positive and his sample was brought to RITM for final testing.

“RITM confirmed the test. RITM has just relayed the result to Rep. Lopez,” Montales said in a statement.

On the part of Villarica, Montales said he was confined to the hospital on March 18 due to pneumonia.

As of writing his condition is stable.

The solon last reported for work on March 4. On March 8, he attended an event hosted by Baliuag Mayor Ferdi Estrella, who was reported earlier to have tested positive.

The total number of House members inflicted with the virus is now three.

Earlier, ACT-CIS Representative and chairman of the Appropriations Committee Eric Go Yap announced to media that he tested positive.
