Albayalde leads oathtaking of 8 new police generals

PHILIPPINE National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde yesterday led the oathtaking and donning of rank of eight newly-promoted police generals led by two of his classmates from Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986 new Police Major Generals Reynaldo G. Biay and Mariel M. Magaway.

Biay, the director of the PNP Civil Security Group;  and Magaway, the director of the PNP Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development took their oaths as new 2-star police generals along with new Major Generals Jonas B. Calleja and Benigno B. Durana Jr.

Calleja, a lawyer-member of PMA “Hinirang” Class of 1987, is the PNP Director for Plans; while Durana, a member of PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988, is the PNP Director for Police-Community Relations.

The other four newly-promoted Police Brigadier Generals are Samuel P. Rodriguez, Joselito F. Salido, Nicerio D. Obaob and Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan.

Rodriguez, of PMA Class 1988, is the director of the PNP Information Technology Management Service; while Ylagan, a member of PMA Class 1990, is the Regional Chief Directorial Staff of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Salido is the Executive Officer of the PNP Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao while Obaob is the Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the Police Regional Office 5 in Bicol region.

The eight took their oaths  shortly after Gen. Albayalde and the PNP Command Group welcomed 2,280 more members of the PNP Officer Corps who were inducted into the police service yesterdayvia Lateral Entry as Line Officers and Technical Service Officers. 

“Earlier today, I confirmed the appointment and administered the oath of office to 456 professionals appointed as Technical Service and Line officers in National Support Units stationed in the National Headquarters,” Gen. Albayalde said.

Simultaneously, 125 more line officers were inducted into the PNP Special Action Force, and 2,251 more in the different Police Regional Offices.

The PNP chief  said  the simultaneous mass-oathtaking ceremonies also took place across the country yesterday morning as the PNP confirmed the promotion of 642 Police Commissioned Officers and 55,671 Police Non-Commissioned Officers promoted to the next higher grade.
