SENATOR Sonny Angara confirmed on Thursday that he tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“I regret to announce that today, March 26, I received my test result and it is positive for COVID-19. I have been feeling some symptoms like mild fever, cough, headaches and general weakness,” Angara said.
“I have not been in contact with the public since taking the test last March 16,” he added.
Angara is the third senator who tested positive fof COVID 19 following Senator Migz Zubiri and Senator Koko Pimentel.
“I ask for your prayers that together we are able to pull through this tremendous challenge,” he added.
“Let us continue to support all efforts to fight the further spread of the virus. Let us support our frontliners on the streets, in the emergency rooms as they are key to the effort. With hope, sacrifice, and unity of effort, we shall overcome,” Angara further said.
Meanwhile, Atty. Myra Villarica also confirmed that a staff of Senator Pia Cayetano also tested positive for COVID 19.
“The patient has no recent travel history. Her infection was traced to a person close to her family. She reported for work on March 11, the last day of session, but did not go to the plenary hall. She did not manifest any of the symptoms of COVID 19 then. It was only after March 11 that she exhibited mild symptoms,” Villarica said in a statement.
