ANOTHER resolution was filed extending the franchise of the ABS-CBN Corporation, this time for one year.
House Joint Resolution 29 filed by Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez proposes extension of ABS-CBN’s franchise until May 2021.
According to Rodriguez, this will give members of the 18th Congress ample time to study and review carefully the renewal of franchise of the television giant.
“The extension of the current franchise of ABS-CBN for one year will give members of Congress enough time to thoroughly study and debate on the 12 bills filed in the House of Representatives,” the resolution said.
The Congress has remaining six session days before the Lenten break and will resume session on May 4.
Rodriguez stressed that both the House of Representatives and the Senate need additional time to review, assess, and determine whether or not the franchise of ABS-CBN should be renewed.
