DEPUTY Speaker and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Pimentel confirmed this after undergoing a swab test a day before the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte.
All those attending the opening of the session and SONA physically are required to undergo Rt-PCR and rapid test.
“Yes my result was positive on my swab test done yesterday in Congress,” he said, adding that he is now in isolation
According to Pimentel, Dr. Dizon of Congress called to inform him that he is positive and that the result was emailed to him.
Those physically attending Duterte's SONA were required to undergo rt-PCR and rapid testing as part of safety measures being implemented at the Batasan Pambansa.
Earlier House Secretary General Jose luis Montales announced that Sulu Rep. Samier Tan tested positive for COVID-19.
