SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is optimistic that he and Senator Imee Marcos will have a good relationship in the Senate as they became close during the campaign season.
Dela Rosa said that he knows how Imee feels since they were both “victims of prejudice.”
“Naging close kami during the campaign kasi I feel for her. Yung mga prejudice na natanggap niya parang pareho lang sa mga prejudice na natanggap ko,” Dela Rosa said.
He said some of the detractors of Imee were prejudiced against her bacause she is the daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
“Siya, parang hindi siya tinatanggap dahil anak siya ni Marcos. Kung ano kasalanan nung ama, e dapat pananagutan ng anak, parang ganon,” he said.
The retired general said for his part he was looked down on because he came from the province, he was not good in speaking English, among other reasons.
“Sa akin naman, porke isang probinsyano ka, porke hindi ka magaling mag-English, porke pulis ka lang, wala kang karapatan maging senador, bobo itong tao, hindi ‘to pwede maging senador,” the neophyte senator stressed.
