SENATOR Christopher ‘Bong’ Go on Tuesday lauded the big role being played by the Police Community Affairs Development Group (PCADG) in the government’s drive to help alleviate the plight of poor Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The senator hailed the PCADG headed by Brigadier General Joselito N. Daniel during its 28th founding anniversary at Camp Crame where he spoke via zoom and presented awards to outstanding PCADG officers and men.
The awardees were Colonel Dennis Macalintal, Lieutenant Col. Christine Bagundol, Lt. Col. Denver Alidao, Police Executive Master Sergeant Josephine Avenido, Police Master Sergeant Rosie Gonzalo, Police Staff Sergeant Alwin Lumasac, Police Staff Sergeant Jhuryco Jabonete and Non-Uniformed Personnel Fritz Anne Reyes and Maricris Delavin.
The nine were given plaques of merit for having been chosen as the best PCADG uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the year, selected by a PCADG board which noted their outstanding achievements in the field of operations and administration.
PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa joined Sen. Go in highlighting the role of the PCADG in the time of pandemic.
"In this time of pandemic, the PNP plays a vital role in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the community,” the PNP chief said even as he noted that more 2,000 police officers and men have contracted the dreaded virus while performing their duties since last March.
According to Gen. Gamboa, the PCADG has showcased its effectiveness in further building harmonious police-community relationship while helping render support to the community.
PCADG is the PNP national headquarters’ lead unit in the implementation of the PNP Project: Libreng Sakay’ which since last March 9 has benefited more than 22,500 ‘front-liners’ and stranded commuters in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
Also present during the activity was PNP Chief Directorial Staff, Lieutenant Gen. Cesar Hawthorne R. Binag and PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Major Gen. Dionardo B. Carlos.
This year’s PCADG anniversary theme is“Pulis at Komunidad Magkaagapay sa Pagsugpo ng COVID-19 Pandemya, Tungo sa Kaligtasan at Kalusugan ng Bawat Isa.”
