Court of Appeals, tax appeals court have six vacant seats

A TOTAL of 61 candidates are eyeing six vacant seats at the Court of Appeals (CA) and Court of Tax Appeals (CTA).

In an advisory, the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) announced that there are four vacant seats at the CA and two for the CTA.

The JBC said that the public “may submit a sworn complaint, report, or opposition against any of the aforesaid candidates” not later than March 13.

Of the 61 candidates, the JBC is set to hold a public interview for 39 of them from March 12 to 15.

Those who will undergo public interview are Joseph Donato Bernedo, Emmanuel Carpio, Wilfredo Lapitan, Philip Aguinaldo, Paul Mer Arias, Alberto Deslate, Evan Dizon, Bonifacio Pascua, Teodoro Fernandez, Perpetuo Lucero Jr., Richard Paradeza, Romeo Tagra, Emma Carino-Francisco, Natalia Oliveros-Guinto, Antonio Olivete, Shernnan Sy, Mark Anthony Tamayo, Olivia Escubio-Samar, Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert, Maximo De Leon, Ambrosio De Luna, Lily Biton, Divinagracia Bustos-Ongkeko, Victor Concepcion, Corazon Domingo-Ranola, Lilia Mercedes Encarnacion Gepty, Emmanuel Silva, Maria Celestina Cruz-Mangrobang, Virgilio Macaraig, John Emmanuel Madamba, Roland Isagani Vendas Jr., Cynthia Marino-Ricablanca, Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed, Dennis Patrick Perez, Rodolfo Noel Quimbo, Felix Reyes, Primo Sio Jr., Maria Milagros Fernan-Cayosa, and Henry Angeles.

The other candidates whose previous interview remains valid are Ma. Theresa Aban-Camannong, Alfredo Ampuan, Rowena Apao-Adlawan, Emerson Aquende, Lorenza Bordios, Irin Zenaida Buan, Carlito Calpatura, Danilo Cruz, Madonna Echiverri, Carlos Espero II, Raymond Reynold Lauigan, Emma Matammu, Rosalyn Mislos-Loja, Encarnacion Jaja Moya, Acerey Pacheco, Vilma Pauig, Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale, Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya, Alfonso Ruiz II, Emily San Gaspar-Gito, Dax Xenos, and Marianthe Pacita Zuraek.

One of the seats at the CA became vacant after President Duterte appointed Justice Jose Reyes Jr. to the Supreme Court on August 9, 2018.
