COVID-19 cases in PH exceed 500; death toll at 33

CNN PHILIPPINES — The number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus disease in the Philippines jumped to 501, with the death toll remaining at 33, the Department of Health reported Tuesday.

One more COVID-19 patient has also recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 19 as of Tuesday morning, according to DOH spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III told CNN Philippines earlier in the day that cases are bound to increase as the government expands its testing efforts. Five government laboratories can now test COVID-19 samples.
Other details were not immediately available.

Globally, the number of people who were diagnosed with the coronavirus disease has gone up to 378,601 with over 16,000 fatalities and 100,000 recoveries as of Tuesday, according to the COVID-19 tracker of John University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
