FOUR more cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in the House of Representatives, bringing the total confirmed cases to 27.
House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales announced that a security staffer, a driver of a congressman and two workers from housekeeping are the latest staff to test positive for COVID-19.
“We have confirmed that a member of our security staff tested positive for COVID-19. He was tested last Sunday, and has been on home isolation, as part of the protocols for the SONA,” Montales said.
Earlier, Deputy Speaker and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel confirmed he was positive for COVID-19.
His driver also tested positive, Montales said.
The House of Representatives continue to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus in the Batasan building.
Former Deputy Speaker and Marikina City Rep. Romero “Miro” Quimbo tested positive for COVID-19.
In his Facebook post, Quimbo said he is now in isolation.
Meanwhile, his wife incumbent Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, and their children had negative test results.
"I am currently in isolation away from my family and loved ones. I ask for your prayers not just for me, but for all those who are in the same condition,” Quimbo said.
