MALACAÑANG yesterday said it respects the Makati court’s deferment of the ruling on the bid for the issuance of an arrest warrant and hold departure order (HDO) against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
“That is [a] court decision which we respect and defer to,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a text message to reporters.
Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 Judge Andres Soriano deferred action on the Department of Justice’s bid to issue an arrest warrant and hold departure order against the opposition senator.
Soriano, who is handling the coup d’etat case against Trillanes, set the hearing on October 5 at 9 a.m.
Trillanes, an opposition senator whose amnesty was revoked by President Rodrigo Duterte, is facing coup d’etat charges over his participation in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny when he was a Navy officer.
