THE camp of Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra was “misinformed” after he accused the senator of going abroad without informing trial court judges where he has pending cases.

“For the record, Sen. Trillanes is aware and has properly complied with his obligation to inform all the courts where he has pending cases of his trips abroad, including RTC Makati – Branch 150 and even in the case of RTC Davao – Branch 54, by filing the appropriate motions and/or manifestations before said courts,” lawyer Rey Robles said in a statement.

Robles, Trillanes’ legal counsel, said that his client accomplished all obligations in the trial courts by filing the necessary motions and manifestations before going out of the country.

This includes the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150 where Trillanes has a pending case for rebellion.

“With all due respect, the Honorable Secretary has apparently been misinformed,” Robles said.

Robles said that Makati RTC Branch 150 Presiding Judge Hon. Elmo Alameda approved Trillanes’ motion for leave to travel abroad over the opposition of the prosecution.

Trillanes even filed a Manifestation and Urgent Motion with the Davao City RTC Branch 54 where he has four pending cases of libel filed by former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte.

This motion was filed a day before the senator left the country, Robles said.
