A BIG transport group will file this morning a petition for a P1 fare hike that will raise the current P9 minimum jeepney fare to P10.
This was announced yesterday by Efren De Luna, national president of Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO).
De Luna said the petition for a fare hike was in response to the latest price hike of P1.45 per liter for diesel and gasoline and P1.35 per liter for kerosene.
“Dugong-dugo na ang transport (industry). Imagine, sabay pa implementation ng TRAIN law, E-VAT, Oil Deregulation Law, Student, Senior Citizens, and Person with disability discount at ang walang kamatayang heavy traffic,” said De Luna.
Operators of jeepneys must be allowed to increase the fare from P9 to P10 in order to survive, De Luna said.
He said The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) “has no reason to disapprove our petition considering the high prices of diesel and gasoline per liter.”
“Pakinggan naman nila kaming mga jeepney operators at drivers, dugong-dugo na kami sa taas ng presyo ng diesel at gasoline,” said De Luna.
