Duterte links ‘Bikoy’ to arch foe Trillanes

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte charged that “Bikoy”, a hooded figure in a series of anti-Duterte videos, is a soldier allied with Sen. Antonio Trillanes.

He made the claim during his speech at a campaign rally Wednesday night in Garcia-Hernandez town in Bohol, a few hours after the Palace released the expanded version of an “Oust Duterte matrix.”

The diagram now includes the Liberal Party, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, and Trillanes’ Magdalo group.

The President said Bikoy’s voice and manner of speaking was strikingly like a soldier’s. He added that the series of videos implicating members of the Duterte family in the illegal drug trade was produced by the Magdalo.

“Hasta’ng tingog. Kadtong tingog. Katong tingog adto. Kabalo mo kinsang tingog? ‘Pag kabalo mo sa character, sundalo to. Magdalo ‘yun. Magdalong production ‘to. Si Trillanes. Kita ka mosulti, ah wala dapat talaga hayaan ito. Lingo sundalo yan e. Sinuplado na pagkaistorya. Kung sa bagay, mogawas ang tinood,” Duterte said.

(Pati ’yung boses . . . ’Yung boses . . . ’Yung boses du’n. Alam niyo kung kaninong boses? ’Pag kilala niyo character, sundalo ’yun, Magdalo ’yun. Magdalong production ’yun. Si Trillanes, kita niyo kung paano magsalita? . . . Wala, dapat talaga hayaan ito. Lingo sundalo ’yan. Suplado ang pagkakasabi. Kung sa bagay, lalabas din ang totoo.)

Palace spokesman Salvador Panelo, in an earlier press briefing, said the narrator of the Bikoy videos is a man named Bong Banal, based on scientific analysis of the voice recordings of Bikoy.

“Now, there was an analysis of the voices and as I said earlier, it appears that the narrator in the Bikoy video is Bong Banal. Their voices are the same. The said recording voice was found to have similar pitch, spectral frequency with Bong Banal,” Panelo said.

The Palace official said Banal is an IT expert and a known advocate of the Liberal Party. He also noted that Peter Joemel Advincula’s claim that he is Bikoy is unlikely to be true, because they have different accents.

“In other words, if you listen, you will notice that the accent of the Bikoy in the video has an Ilocano accent, while Bikoy who represents himself as Peter Advincula has a Bicolano accent, because he is a Bicolano from Sorsogon,” Panelo said.
