PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa yesterday assured members of the 205,000-strong police force that they are doing their best to provide them the necessary protection they need as they help battle the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus across the country.
According to the top cop, the PNP National Headquarters will always provide as much as it demands from the officers and rank-and-file. Right now, police need all the personnel protective equipment, thermal gadgets and food and water and vitamins and other body supplement they can get as they man Quarantine Control Points in the country 24/7.
“Be assured that I’m doing everything in my power to provide you with all necessary support and resources to ensure your health and safety as you do your job in the best way possible. I expect all leaders at all levels to do the same for all personnel under their command,” Gen. Gamboa said.
“To the men and women of the PNP at the frontlines, as your father, I couldn’t thank you more for your service and sacrifice. Your health and safety are always in my thoughts and prayers. In these difficult times, the rest of the Filipino people expects no less than our level best. And with God and the people on our side, we will surely overcome,” he said.
PNP officers and men and their families also joined the Filipino nation in faithful observance of the National Week of Prayer in support of Proclamation No. 934 signed by President Duterte last Saturday declaring the fourth week of March 2020 as a National Week of Prayer.
“We humbly invoke God’s promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” Gen. Gamboa said.
According to the PNP chief, they fully support President Duterte in his call for Filipinos of all faiths, religious traditions and backgrounds to unite their hearts in prayer as we face the threat of COVID 19.
“We urge everyone to join us in praying for all our front-liners, for their safety and health, as well as for their immunity and strength to continue fighting for their countrymen amidst this global health crisis,” he said.
“We pray that the heroism of our frontline medical practitioners and health workers will not be in vain as we highlight the importance of staying at home and making our homes as our fortress in this world war against COVID- 19.
We pray that every Filipino will heed the call of the government for them to strictly follow the protocols imposed by it on community quarantine and social distancing,” he added.
