IT’S like a manna from heaven.
This after Philippine National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, announced that all qualified police personnel will receive a daily P500 hazard pay while serving as ‘front-liners’ in the enforcement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine ordered by President Duterte to help thwart the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“That should further boost the financial flexibility of our troops and their families apart from the full range of salary and allowances in April, sans any deduction for loan amortization for this month. Another P5,000 windfall is also due for all PSMBFI members as Financial Assistance to see them through this crisis,” the PNP chief said of the additional P15,000 hazard pay for qualified policemen every month they perform their quarantine duties.
According to Gen. Gamboa, President Duterte had already given members of the uniformed service a morale-boosting pay-hike years ahead “even before we were sent to battle, and with a sustaining package of cash and non-cash benefits to boot.”
He said that the PNP Administrative Support to CoVid-19 Operations Task Force (ASCOTF) headed by PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Lt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan was also organized purposely to ensure efficient delivery of administrative support for optimum and efficient management, distribution and utilization of resources and supply chain to sustain ongoing operations of Joint Task Force COVID Shield with administrative support mechanisms for personnel management, logistics, finance and health management.
“Because the PNP puts premium to the morale and welfare of all personnel, we do not want to send them to battle without adequate protection against infection by providing Personal Protective Equipment and assurance of supportive healthcare. The ASCOTF aims to provide all these for our frontline troops,” he explained.
