Gamboa orders another PNP reshuffle

Archie Francisco F. Gamboa

PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa yesterday ordered another reorganization of key PNP positions following the designation of a new PNP Director for Intelligence vice Major Gen. Mariel M. Magaway who was badly injured in a helicopter crash that nearly killed the top cop in San Pedro City in Laguna last March 5.

Gamboa designated erstwhile Police Regional Office 8 director Brigadier Gen. Ferdinand O. Divina as the new head of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence vice Magaway, the PNP chief’s classmate from Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986.

Former Manila Police District director Brig. Gen. Bernabe M. Balba was named as the new PRO8 director in Eastern Visayas vice Divina, his mistah from PMA ‘Maringal’ Class of 1988.

Balba was replaced as head of the Manila’s Finest  Brig. Gen. Rolando F. Miranda, a member of PMA “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990 who used to be the Deputy Director of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management.

Designated as new PNP Deputy Director for Personnel and Records Management was Brig. Gen. Robert T. Rodriguez of PMA ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991 while Colonel Belli B. Tamayo of PMA ‘Tanglaw Diwa’ Class of 1992 was named as new Executive Officer of the DPRM, a position which will earn him his star-rank.

Gamboa also designated Brig. Gen. Jesus D. Cambay Jr. of PMA ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989 as the new PNP Director for Intelligence vice Brig. Gen. Edgar S. Monsalve who was named as new PNP Deputy Director for Intelligence.

On the other hand, erstwhile National Capital Region Police Office Regional Chief Directorial Staff, Brig. Gen. Danilo P. Macerin of PNP Academy Class 1991 was designated as the new chief of the PNP National Operations Center under the PNP Directorate for Operations.

Macerin swapped position with Brig. Gen. Florencio T. Ortilla of PMA Class 1990.

There is still no official word on another member of PMA Class 1986, PNP Director for Comptrollership, Major Gen. Jose Ma. Victor DF Ramos Jr., who along with Magaway was seriously injured in the chopper crash two weeks ago.
