SENATE Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Richard Gordon has warned former Police Sr. Supt. Eduardo Acierto that he too will be cited for contempt if he will continue to snub the hearing on the P6.8 billion shabu that was smuggled from the Bureau of Immigration and made its way to GMA, Cavite.

In an interview with DWIZ radio, Gordon called on Acierto to make himself available and that he is willing to listen to whatever he wants to divulge on the said controversy.

The senator expressed belief that there is another person that is higher in authority that is behind Acierto and is the focus of his investigation.

Like his colleagues in the Senate, Gordon said that he is also dissatisfied with the transfer of former Bureau of Customs chief, Isidro Lapeña to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which was ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Sinabi ko dapat nililipat-lipat ang mga tao dyan sa Customs dahil nagkakaroon ng familiarization. Pangalawa dapat overhaul in such a way na dapat mabawasan ang pumapasok dyan,” Gordon stressed.

After Duterte’s order to arrest Customs intelligence officer Jimmy Guban, Gordon said it may not be possible now to turn the witness in the custody of the Department of Justice (DoJ) or he may not allow him to attend the Congressional hearing.

“Sa tingin ko delikado na ang buhay nyan (Guban) kaya andyan pa yan sa akin dahil sigurado tayo na may nahuli tayong malaki,” explained Gordon.

While going solo in the investigation, Gordon insinuated that his committee needed the help of other branches of the government to resolve the issue.
