MALACANANG has directed government offices to help implement the program that aims to lift millions of Filipinos out of poverty by the end of President Rodrigo Duterte’s term in 2022.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Wednesday issued the directive through Memorandum Circular 59, a copy of which was released to the media yesterday.

The circular cited “whole-of-government” approach to poverty alleviation and the widest deployment of basic social services to our communities” in the implementation of Sambayanihan: Serbisyong Sambayanan program of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).

The program seeks to reduce the national poverty incidence from 21.6 percent in 2015 to 14 percent in 2022.

According to the Palace, the Sambayanihan, its caravan and other component programs seek to provide a venue for inter-agency collaboration at the provincial and municipal level to address the root causes of poverty.

Frontline support and basic social services of various national government agencies will also be delivered directly to the public, especially those in the poorest communities.

The NAPC is chaired by the President with Secretary Noel Felongco as lead convenor.
