GOVERNMENT prosecutors, specifically those assigned in local prosecutor's office, have been reminded to remain on call under the enhanced community quarantine.
Guevarra issued the reminder after receiving reports that dozens of persons who violated the curfew ordinance were not able to post bail due to the absence of prosecutors and technical staff during inquest proceedings.
“I will ask PG Malcontento (Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento) to look into this ASAP (as soon as possible),” Guevarra said.
Guevarra issued Department Circular No. 008-A on March 13, stating: “During the period of public health emergency, the conduct of all inquest proceedings shall continue and shall proceed in accordance with the Rules of Court and existing rules and guidelines of the Department of Justice, including guidelines on the designation of inquest prosecutors on duty and the necessary staff therefore.”
President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Luzon under the enhanced community quarantine to stop the spread of COVID-19.
