Guards tapped for quarantine duty

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has set protocols to tap private security guards to strengthen the enforcement in securing areas during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19.

Following the Proclamation No. 992 which puts the country under a state of public health emergency, the PNP said it is part of the compliance with such measure.

Under the said protocols, private security agencies and security guards will be authorized to act as force multipliers and man different establishments within the area covered by the quarantine.

According to a press statement, they are playing a vital role on securing the safety of their respective jobs, thus making them fit to the role.

The protocol will guide security managers and security guards in the deployment, equipment, inspection and other matters necessary in the placement of guards and security of different places.

With this being said, they are also entitled to have their own special pass.

Security guards who are on duty need to present a valid ID, their License to Exercise Security Profession (LESP) and their duty detail order at designated PNP checkpoints.

Currently, the Army and PNP personnel are manning the checkpoints all over Luzon.
