House employee dies from virus

THE employee of the House of Representatives who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) died 1:45 Sunday morning, causing shock, fears among staff, reporters and lawmakers.

It was Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) party-list Rep. Jericho “Koko” Nograles who informed the House media about the employee’s passing that was later confirmed later by House Secretary General Atty. Jose Luis Montales.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our employee from Printing Service passed away this morning (Sunday). Let us all pray for the repose of his soul. Let us pray for his family’s strength in these trying times,” said Montales as he called for calm and stressed that the House leadership has been doing everything to help curb the spread of the dreaded virus in the institution.

Last Friday night, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano ordered the work suspension of the House of Representatives from March 16 to April 12, 2020 in line with the decision of President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte to place Metro Manila under one-month community quarantine.
