House has 38th virus case

THE House of Representatives yesterday reported its 38th case of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) case despite its continued wall-to-wall disinfection of its buildings.

The COVID-19 positive, an employee is assigned at the Office of the  Speaker, is now  on home quarantine, House Secretary General Atty. Jose Luis G. Montales said in his advisory to House media.

Sources said the continued COVID-19 infections of its employees has

prompted the House of Representatives to suspend its hybrid hearings in the plenary hall, but regular sessions will proceed.

Three of the 38 lawmakers, officials and employees of the House of

Representatives who were officially recorded as COVID-19 positive have died.

Four lawmakers, namely, Bulacan Rep. Henry Villarica and Sulu Rep.

Shamier Tan and Deputy Speakers Johnny Pimentel of Surigao del Sur and Mujiv Hataman of Basilan were among those who have caught the disease.
