A VISIBLY irked Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed dismay over opposition candidates’ demands on debates with Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) senatorial bets.

Duterte-Carpio, chairman and founder of HNP, even branded the Otso Derecho candidates as having “obsessive disorder.”

“Kung ang mga HNP-supported senators ay ang sun, ang HNP ay ang moon, sila  (opposition) po ay parang black hole. Very depressing, dark and very disorganized,” she said in an interview after the campaign sortie in Pateros.

The presidential daughter got irritated by Otso Derecho urging her to organize a debate of senatorial candidates in the 2019 mid-term elections.

According to Duterte-Carpio, it is the opposition candidates who challenged the administration bets in a debate without rules. She earlier said they will accept the challenge provided there will be rules and the debate is conducted by a third party not by the candidates themselves.

“Dahil sa ganiyan, challenge siya tapos sinabihan na - sige na, willing naman ‘yung mga candidates makipag-debate. Tapos bara-bara, very unprofessional and then ngayon uutusan ako.”

“I am the Mayor of Davao City. I am the Chairman of the HNP tapos gagawin akong Secretary  ng mga merong obsessive disorder, ng grupo na may fixation sa debate. Bakit nila ako uutusan hindi naman kami yung nag challenge sila yun,”  Duterte-Carpio said.

She called the opposition candidates as very unprofessional and urged them to act like a senator if they really wanted to win the elections.

“Gusto ko silang tulungan pero nagdecide ako na I will not share my light anymore sa kanila. Di ko na alam saan nanggagaling ‘yang fixation na ‘yan,” she added.

The HNP is supporting the candidacy of former MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino; former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa; former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go; reelectionists  Sonny Angara; Cynthia Villar; JV Ejercito and Koko Pimentel; Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos; former Sens. Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla Jr.; Taguig City Rep. Cayetano and Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu and former journalist Jiggy Manicad.

Earlier this week, Otso Diretso’s candidates informally challenged other senatorial candidates to a debate in Plaza Miranda, where none of HNP’s bets showed up.
