HOUSE Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez and Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Kittilstvedt-Romualdez said the country lost another “intellectual giant” with the passing of former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr.
The Romualdez couple extended their condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family of Pimentel led by Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Commission on Human Rights Commissioner Gwendolyn “Gwen” Pimentel-Gana, hoping that the outpouring of love and support will somehow give them comfort in this very difficult time.
“The country lost another intellectual giant. Senate President Pimentel is a good man and a great leader. His dedicated public service and brilliant leadership are beyond question. He will be remembered for leading an honorable life,” said Martin Romualdez, president of both the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.
For her part, Yedda Romualdez, the chairperson of the House Committee on the Welfare of Children, said “I wish that our condolences bring consolation, strength and peace to the family of the late Senate President Pimentel during this painful time. I know that no words can remove the sorrow in this very sad moment and we weep the agony of such loss. May God give him eternal rest.”
Martin Romualdez said “Senate President Pimentel was a powerful force in reforming the local government being the Father of the Local Government Code.
